A look at tomorrow’s FA Cup opponents – Arlesey Town

A review of them, their record this season and a look back at a previous meeting.

ARLESEY TOWN play in the Evo-Stik League South East and currently lie in 20th place having lost three and drawn one of their opening four games.

They beat Desborough Town (of the United Counties League) in the FA Cup preliminary round 3-1 with goals from Rafe Goodman (2) and Kim Forsythe. Goodman was sent off with the score at 3-1.

They have reached the FA Cup first round proper twice, losing 1-3 to Salisbury City (a) in 2011/12 and then earned a trip to Coventry City in 2012/13, losing 0-3.

Swifts played them once before – in the FA Cup on September 10, 2005, in the first qualifying round.

A rare goal from Erdem Artun in front of a crowd of 169 secured a 1-0 win for Heybridge and a tie against Wivenhoe Town.

Heybridge won 4-1 before losing to Braintree Town in a replay.

The Swifts team for our last meeting with Arlesey was:

Paul Nicholls, Erdem Artun, Ian Cousins, Michael Shinn, Danny Barber, Paul O’Donoghue, Mark Janney (Jack Bowen), Adam Gillespie, Austin Berkeley, Paul Abbott (Sean Marks), Cliff Akurang.

Unused subs: Robin Trott, Yohance Lewis.
