Swifts eased through this first round League cup match against Bostik League rivals Mildenhall Town at a chilly Aspen Waite Arena on Tuesday night.
Making 4 changes from the victorious starting line up from Saturday’s FA Cup victory, Swifts made a sluggish start and went a goal behind after 14 minutes when ex pro striker Danny Crow played an excellent 1-2 before curling home and unstoppable strike from the left.
Swifts soon were on level terms when a clumsy challenge on the byline on Luke Callander saw Sam Bantick coolly slot home the resulting penalty kick on 27 minutes. Callander then put Swifts ahead 6 minutes later, finishing off a fine passing move between Ben Sampayo and Sam Bantick.
Ben Griffiths made it 3 on 57 minutes, running on a neat through ball before slotting home past visiting keeper Sam Roach. In a quiet second half Swifts conceded on 81 minutes when Danny Sambridge dropped a cross at the feet of Joshua Curry who finished firmly from close range.
The visitors looked more dangerous but substitute Luque put the result beyond doubt in the last minute, cutting in and firing home to make the tie safe and book a visit to Bury Town in the next round.
