SWIFTS manager Jody Brown admits his squad is “severely under strength” as they begin their brutal Bostik North run-in with a trip to promotion-chasing Potters Bar on Tuesday evening (March 13).
Bad-weather postponements have meant Heybridge have not played a game for over a fortnight and that has left them with the unenviable prospect of facing up to four games a week for the remainder of the campaign.
Mid-table Swifts head to fifth-placed Potters Bar with up to ten games in hand on some rivals and Brown revealed he will start the challenge without all of his key players.
He said: “It is a huge test coming up at the impressive Potters Bar, who I think have a strong chance of automatic promotion.
“We go there severely under strength with a few key suspensions for accumulative yellow cards, which kicked in at the weekend.
“We are also still missing our skipper Lewis Dark (pictured) and defender Toby Stevenson to injury and illness.
“That means we will have five of our usual starting line up unavailable when coupled with the suspensions.
“And I’m sure it will be the same situation for the Witham game on Thursday.
“And given the nature of our schedule that is not ideal as the likelihood is the same players will have to play Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday again.
“Although we will try to rotate rest players where possible, paying close attention to recovery will be vital over the coming weeks.
“A game every couple of days throughout March will test us all but it’s an exciting challenge.”
