Virtual horse racing night and World Cup screening events planned at Scraley Road this summer

By JAMES COLASANTI

SWIFTS Clubhouse Manager Nikki Ponder has planned a virtual horse racing night and World Cup screenings of England matches as part of a summer fundraising programme at Scraley Road.

The race night will be on Friday May 25 and doors will open at 5pm, with horses and jockeys available to book now at the club.

Funds raised will help to subsidise coach costs for supporters to travel to away games next season as Jody Brown’s side bid to mount more memorable cup runs along with a crack at the Bostik North division.

Nikki said: “We hope events like this can raise travel to allow our more of our loyal fans to see our brilliant team in action on the road as well as here at the Aspen Waite Arena, so it would be great to see as many getting involved as possible.”

Swifts will also be screening all three of England’s group games as they bid for football’s greatest prize in Russia this summer.

In June, Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions face Tunisia on the 18th in a 7pm kick-off, Panama (24th/1pm) and Belgium (28th/7pm).

The clubhouse will be serving all draught pints for £3 with special promotions on all shots and the food bar open throughout.

A World Cup raffle is also being run and £5 tickets are available to buy now.

The prizes are 30 draft pint tokens, 15 draft pint tokens and five draft pint tokens, which can all be redeemed on the days England play at the event.

The raffle draw will be made at 6pm on Monday June 18.
