IN A NUTSHELL: Swifts blew the Bostik North title race wide open with a dogged win over the league leaders. Former Basildon United star Charlie Kendall popped up with the vital second half goal to break the hearts of his former derby rivals. Wins for third-placed Maldon and fourth-placed Aveley mean only five points now separate the top four in the exciting Step 4 division.

KEY ACTION: Bowers dominated the first half but could not make the breakthrough after wasting good chances and forcing home keeper Chris Haigh to make several good saves, including one from David Knight on the stroke of half-time. And they were made to pay after the restart when former Bowers favourite Luke Wilson chipped the ball over keeper Andy Wilton for Kendall to tap home (that goal is pictured above by Alan Edmonds). Sub Lewis Manor was denied a late leveller when the impressive Toib Adeyemi cleared his effort off the line.

SWIFTS STAR MAN: Chris Haigh. A busy day for the Swifts No 1 but he stood up to every challenge.

SWIFTS DEBUTS: None.

INJURY CONCERNS: Harrison Chatting.

ENTERTAINMENT VALUE: 8/10
