SWIFTS host Basildon United tonight as the race for Bostik North promotion enters the final third of the season.
The clash at Scraley Road is one of nine in the Step 4 division this evening and a win for Heybridge could move them to within three points of leaders Bowers, who host Grays.
Swifts groundsman Matthew Clark confirmed this morning the Aspen Waite Arena pitch is in good shape despite the recent cold snap and there is no need for an inspection for a game which kicks-off at 7.45pm.
The reverse fixture saw Swifts lose a tight and tense game at then league leading Basildon, in what turned out to be former Heybridge manager Jody Brown’s last game in charge.
Joe Gardner had given Swifts the lead but two goals from Eljay Worrell turned the game on its head and the Bees were able to record a sixth successive league win.
Current Swifts Charlie Kendall and Jack Adlington-Pile (pictured by Alan Edmonds) started for the Bees that night. Both game off the bench for Swifts in Saturday’s defeat at Felixstowe and will be pushing to start against their former club.
Since that game the Bees have appointed a new manager in Neil Blackburn and will start the game 11th in the table.
