Swifts book authors make generous donations to the club

AUTHORS of a book about Heybridge Swifts have made two generous donations to the club.

David Scott and Chris Daines pledged £1,250 to Swifts’ Social Club for refurbishment works, and £300 to the to the youth section for the benefit of the Under-10s team managed by Mark Chaplin, from the profits of their popular paperback, Heybridge Swifts: the club that refused to die.

David said: “I am delighted this will benefit club members and the wider community who use the clubhouse, as well as the Under-10 team. It will help people of all ages.

“Since the launch of the book I have received many favourable comments from around the world.

“It has been well received, particularly by long-standing supporters who stuck with the club through the lean years.”

Copies of the book, which charts the history of the club from 1880 to the present day, are still available from Chris Daines on match days or by contacting him direct.
