ELLIOTT RONTO scored as Swifts began their pre-season programme with a 1-1 draw at Essex Senior League Walthamstow today (July 13).

It was 0-0 at the break but the Heybridge midfielder hit a shot which took a deflection before finding the net after the restart. Dwade James slotted home a leveller for the hosts.

It was also a game in which Swifts youth prospect Oli Bell (pictured by Alan Edmonds) made his first-team debut.

The 16-year-old have developed his game under Danny Hunt and usually plays in a defensive central midfield role, but he got a run out on the right wing after coming on as a second-half sub against the Stow.

Swifts will continue their summer warm-up games when the host Isthmian Premier side Bishop’s Stortford at the Aspen Waite Arena on Tuesday night (July 16). That game kicks-off at 7.45pm.
