SWIFTS players returned for pre-season training this week under the club’s new look management team.
The squad were put through their paces on Tuesday, Thursday and today (Saturday) under new manager Karl Duguid and his new assistant Stuart Nethercott (pictured by Alan Edmonds).
Karl has stepped up from No 2 to the role of first team-boss following the departure of Julian Dicks to take up a coaching position at Championship side West Brom.
Swifts vice chairman Steve Spreadbury spoke to the JC Non League Podcast this week about Julian’s exit and why he is confident Karl will continue to build solidly on last season’s success (click here to listen to that interview).
Stuart, who played for Swifts under manager Brian Statham in the 2006/07 season, has arrived after working as a coach at Coggeshall Town last season.
Swifts have retained the services of 10 players from the match-day squad of 16 which beat Maldon in the Bostik North play-off final in May, and hope to be in the hunt for promotion again next season.
The Black & Whites have also bolstered their ranks with the signings of keeper Luca Collins, and defenders Jack Lelliott and Jack Kemsley – all three arriving from local rivals Witham.
Swifts will kick-off their summer programme with a trip to Essex Senior League side Walthamstow next Saturday (July 13) in a game which gets underway at 3pm.
And three days later they welcome Isthmian Premier side Bishop’s Stortford to the Aspen Waite Arena for a match which kicks off at 7.45pm.
