MATT PRICE has pledged to cut off his trademark blond ponytail to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The popular Swifts striker, who has top scored for the club for the last two seasons, hopes to reach £1,000 in donations before he has the chop on Monday, September 30.
Pricey (pictured by Alan Edmonds) said: “I’ve been properly growing it for approaching two years now but it is time for it to go! Not like razor slap head bald – but it’s all coming off.
“I’m hoping it will make me more streamlined with the new haircut – so I can glide past defenders like a gazelle!
“But in all seriousness I am looking forward to getting back involved under our new manager Doogs in the new season. He’s a top man first and foremost and has been a great listener for me lately, and he is also a fantastic football coach so I can be a part of a successful side under him.”
Matt is a plumber by trade but has served with the Royal Engineers and says the Macmillan nurses who look after people with palliative care needs are every bit as much heroes as anyone who has been in the Army.
He added: “I’ve spent some time in hospital recently and I know what a great job all nurses in this country do, especially the Macmillan ones.
“It just seems like a great cause and – if I’m going to get my hair cut off – then I can think of no better cause to support.”
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.
